Diana showing the slit

One of Diana's criteria for a skirt was that it have a small slit going up one leg.

Close-up of inside waistband

This skirt required all the skills and techniques I learned from two wonderful teachers: Cynthia Guffey for her hand-stitching class, and Claire Shaeffer for her encouragement in working with luxury fabrics. There was more hand-stitching in this skirt than in almost anything else I've done!

The waistband was hand-stitched to the inside of the skirt. There are no raw edges showing anywhere on the skirt: the lining covers them all.

Lining and vent

The lining is tacked to the hem and to the vent opening.

The skirt is made of a lightweight wool and the lining is silk.
