Diana's Cloak
completed August 12, 2004
Diana really, really wanted a cloak for her birthday. She even provided me with a sketch and a desire that it be either green or black.
The pattern is Simplicity 9452, with a few modifications.
Here's the full front view.

Here's a close-up of the hood:

The outer fabric is a panne velvet, and the lining is black Ambiance.

Side view:

The pattern called for self-fabric ties to cinch the hood, but I decided to use twisted drapery cord instead. I finished the ends of the cord with tassels (had to use black; they didn't have green tassels to match the cord!).
The hood on this cloak is designed to lay flat when it's not over the head. Here's the front view with the hood down.

The pattern also called for the hood to be self-lined. I decided to line it with the Ambiance, and then added a facing of the panne velvet.
Back view with the hood down:

The cloak has a rather dramatic sweep to it!

It looks especially dramatic when one is fleeing pursuers or other hazards!

Diana loves her cloak!
