Ergonomic Bag

finished August 4, 2003

Wild Ginger has just released a new program called Wild Things! It's a terrific little package that lets you create bags, hats, wraps and footwear. It is just too much fun! Well, I've always wanted to make myself a teardrop shaped ergonomic bag, and that just happens to be one of the pattern options. So I dove into my stash and came up with some brown cordura, and went from there.

Here's the finished bag:

I added piping to all the pockets, as well as around the body of the bag. I also made the outside pockets on both sides of the bag (can't have too many pockets!) and monogrammed both pockets. The monogram was created with Origins and stitched out on the Designer 1.

Here is a close-up of the embroidery:

I lined all the pockets with contrasting fabric.

The inside was fully lined. I didn't have enough of the green leaf print, so I used a coordinating green marble print to make up the deficit.

This bag is going to see a LOT of use! The only thing I probably will do is shorten the strap... looking at it, I can see it is too long, and while I was using the bag I felt it needed to be tucked in more under my arm. However, it works fine as is, so this will become one of those "round tuit" projects!
