My New Handbag

completed February 2, 2003

One thing my wardrobe is missing is a nice selection of small purses and handbags for evenings out. When all I need is a cell phone and a credit card, why drag my big pocketbook with me? So I checked out a book from the library called "Making Handbags & Purses", by Carol Parks. This particular design caught my eye, so now I have a new handbag! (Credit for the design goes to Dee Dee Triplett)

The outer fabric is flannel and the lining is quilting cotton.

A close-up of the closed purse:

The "closure" is the two thumbs, held together with a bit of velcro.

Here is a close-up of the open handbag, showing the lining and the divider (which wasn't in the pattern; I added it).

It's about the right size for a cell phone, car key, credit card and some bills. I can't wait for the opportunity to use it!
