Vintage Vogue Ballgown
This is the ball gown I made to wear to a charity auction on March 31, 2000. This is a picture of me in the gown at the party. Do I look happy? I had only finished the last of the hemming about two hours before this picture was taken. Whew!!
Chef's Jacket
Now
that my husband Bob is the official cook for the family, he needed to have the
proper attire to highlight his new avocation. He asked me to make the chef's
jacket for him -- the scarf and hat were my idea. The fabric is a hunter green
heavyweight cotton twill, and most of the seams are mock flat felled.
School Lunch Shirt
This
was a fun shirt to make, inspired by my good friend Wendy Arend. She had made a
baseball-style shirt using a "Dick and Jane" fabric that was just too
whimsical! So I decided to get the funkiest fabric I could find and make a shirt
out of it. This is the result!
Here's
a detail of the topstitching embellishment I did on the shirt. Using variegated
thread over black middy braid, I used one of the Viking #1+ decorative stitches
to make this colorful accent.
I See You Eyeshade
I've
always wanted a neat eyeshade, so I finally made one. I digitized an eye and
embroidered it on pink denim, then backed it with polarfleece and made a velcro
fastener. All in all, the effect is pretty good! (And I'm sorry about the poor
picture quality; I used my QuickCam to take the picture!)
Here's
a closeup of the shades
Blue Dress
This
is the first project made using the new Pattern Master Boutique 2.0 from Wild
Ginger. It's a terrific program!!
The fabric is a woven linen-look cotton blend.
I
added decorative stitching to the buttonhole placket and the sleeve hem using
two different stitch patterns on my Viking #1+ (D15 and D16), using yellow Sulky
embroidery thread. I'm very pleased with the results!
